New Cars 2005
Audi
The Avant version of the new facelift A4 series
is released in May. A popular option will be the new Audi A4
2.0 TDI Avant. This medium sized load lugger will be an
important car in this class - practicality, economy and style
combine to make an attractive package. The 2.0 TDI is
available with a 6 speed manual transmission and has a sub 10
second 0-60 time. For more performance try the 200bhp FSI
2.0 Turbo engine, or for economy and performance the three litre
204bhp TDI coupld be your thing. And if that's not enough
for you then the 256bhp 3.2 FSI engine should do the trick.
Audi are also about to unveil the new cabriolet
version of the A4. The range will include a 3 litre Diesel
in place of the 2.5 litre in the previous range, and also a top of
the range S4 version which will be fitted with a 4.2 litre
V8. The RS4 A4 won't be available as a soft top. The
range is set to include the awesome DSG gearbox as an alternative
to the regular five or six speed manual transmissions or the
option of an automatic. The price range is expected to be
from 25,000 to around 42,000 GBP.
Citroen
Citroen will extend their range at both ends
with the new C1 to be released in June 2005, followed by the C6
later in the year. The former shares a platform with the
Toyota Aygo and the Peugeot 107. The C6 is a stylish space
age creation which could well see some buyers out of their BMWs
and Audis.
Ford
New Fiesta ST is launched in the UK.
Awesome performance and handling will mean that
the little Ford is very much in demand. The rest of the
Fiesta range is due for a facelift some time in the next 12 months
in order to remain competitive against new offerings from Peugeot
and Vauxhall in the form of the 207 and the striking new Corsa.

Lexus
New GS Series - Includes 297bhp GS430. A
little under £50,000 buys you new standards of comfort and
luxury. Built to last forever in the Lexus tradition. Arguably
the most significant release of the year will be the RX-400h
- the world's first Hybrid SUV. Clearly there's no way
everyone is going to persuaded to give up large SUVs in favour of
economical and less damaging Aygos and Priuses. So Toyota's
latest luxury hybrid could be hugely significant. More
