SEAT
Seat Leon - Release Date Autumn 2005 New
Leon, based on latest Golf Class chassis - Looks great. Suzuki
Suzuki launch their new small car - the
new Swift - which we expect will have a big impact on the
small car market. Exciting new lines and great handling will
mean that buyers pay much more attention to this new Swift than
they did to the previous one. Expect to see Suzuki's profile
in the small car market raised by this great new car.
A new chunky looking four wheel drive Grand
Vitara is on the way for summer 2005. As before, the Vitara
range will offer a choice of 3 or 5 door bodies. Engines
will include a 2.5 litre V6 for the first time alongside a 2 litre
petrol unit and a 1.9 litre diesel. And a new
130bhp 1.6 litre engine for the Swift is set to make the baby
Suzuki as quick as its name suggests.
Toyota
Toyota Aygo -
Release date 01/07/2005 Sub Yaris class,
developed in conjunction with Peugeot Citroen. Keen prices
and very low running costs are promised. Vauxhall
A new Corsa taking its styling cues from the
brilliant new Astra is on the way for late 2005. Initial
shots show that the new Vauxhall styling cues look even better on
the smaller car. For more space at a price that
won't break the bank, the new Zafira may be less striking than the
Astra it's based on, but it carries on where its predecessor left
off with class leading practicality. On the other
hand, if you don't need the space, then the company's tidy looking
Tigra convertible coupe - the could be just what you're
looking for. At just under £16,000 the new CDTi sport
version features a 69 bhp diesel engine so if you cover a lot of
miles you can now have open top motoring at an reasonable price.
Volkswagen
24th of June 2005 sees the launch of the all new
Passat in the UK. All round improvements are expected to
revitalise the popularity of this fleet favourite. On the
road prices will start from a shade under £15,000 for the 1.6FSI,
and just under £20,000 for the 2.0TDI Sport. Initially the
new Passat will be available in saloon form, with new estate
models to follow later in the year. Volkswagen's
alternative 'bigger than a golf' car is of course the Golf
plus. Developed alongside the sister car from the Seat
range, the Plus is basically a slightly taller version of the
regular golf. This gives it a significant boost in capacity
- for example the boot space rises by over 10% from 350 litres to
a useful 395, and with the seats folded the Plus has an extra 145
litres of space compared with the regular Golf.
